Welcome to the hour of Code!

During Computer Science week students view the internal components of the computer and learn that computers aren't so smart without people to program them, we learn about the vocabulary associated with this mysterious language and then dive right in to coding using the Blockly method.  

Students complete 6 'missions', experimenting with different types of coding environments and will then have free choice to learn more about which method interests them.

Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Grade programmers

Lightbot is a game that asks players to use programming logic to solve puzzles! Gain a practical understanding of basic coding concepts by guiding Lightbot to light up all the blue tiles in each level. Learn how to sequence instructions, write procedures, and utilize loops along the way in this self-guided activity. Great for all ages and all skill levels.

Mission 4 - Use Tynker's physics engine to make your own personalized version of this classic arcade game. Start by programming the paddle to move when the arrow keys are pressed, then add a ball and some bricks. You'll personalize the game by adding custom assets for the ball, bricks, and paddle.

Mission 5 - Using the task cards, learn to animate your character so you can make games, stories or even music videos.

Mission 3 - Try modifying Java script like a real programmer, a challenging level to try out and see the language in action.

Mission 6 - Save the computer from a malicious virus! You'll have to hack your way through the system by deleting viruses, opening doors, solving mazes, and navigating through the portals. Watch out for viruses and glitches!
